Karna Foster Impact Scholarship: Honoring Community Leadership

Now accepting applications from Monmouth-Roseville, United, and West Central seniors—apply by March 13, 2026 for a chance to receive an $800 scholarship.  

Midwest Bank is proud to offer the Karna Foster Impact Scholarship, a yearly opportunity that honors the life and legacy of Karna Foster—a Midwest Bank employee who made a lasting impact on our staff and the communities we serve through volunteerism, kindness, and leadership.

Karna was involved in many local organizations throughout the years, including the Kiwanis Club, the Jamieson Center’s Angel Tree Program, United Way, MDA Jerry’s Kids, and the OSF Holy Family Medical Center Auxiliary. She was also recognized with the Athena Business Woman of the Year Award for her innovative ideas and strong leadership skills.

Her ability to see beauty in everything—and her genuine smile and joyful spirit—continue to inspire those who knew her.


Scholarship Details

The Karna Foster Impact Scholarship is awarded to a student who has demonstrated meaningful involvement and positive influence in their community.

Scholarship Amount: $800 (one-time award)
Winner Announced: May 2026

The monetary award will be given directly to the winner. The winner must also sign a statement confirming the scholarship will be used to further their education.


Who Can Apply?

This scholarship is open to high school seniors attending:

  • Monmouth-Roseville High School
  • United High School
  • West Central High School

This scholarship is not based on financial need.

Please note: Midwest Bank employees and their immediate family members are not eligible to participate.


How to Apply

To apply, students must submit:

  • ✅ A completed scholarship application
  • ✅ A 2-page essay that highlights their community-based efforts

Your essay should describe ways you’ve made a positive difference through activities such as:

  • Volunteering with local organizations
  • Fundraising events you’ve hosted or supported
  • Small businesses you’ve created
  • Community projects or leadership initiatives

Essay Requirements:

  • 2 pages
  • Double spaced
  • Typed
  • Times New Roman (10–12 point font)
  • Do not include your name anywhere on your essay
